Nangkartshang Peak (also spelled Nangkar Tshang) is a lesser-known yet spectacular viewpoint located in the Everest region of Nepal, near Dingboche village (4,410 m). Standing at an elevation of approximately 5,083 meters (16,676 ft), this peak offers breathtaking panoramic views of several iconic Himalayan giants — without the need for technical climbing.
Perfect for acclimatization, adventure, and photography, Nangkartshang Peak is a rewarding addition to treks like the Everest Base Camp Trek and Three Passes Trek.
Nangkartshang Peak lies just above Dingboche, a key stop on many Everest trekking routes. It is often climbed as an acclimatization hike, typically done as a half-day excursion to help trekkers adjust to higher altitudes.
From the summit, you’ll get magnificent views of:
Ama Dablam
Makalu (8,481 m) – 5th highest mountain in the world
Lhotse and Nuptse
Island Peak (Imja Tse)
Most trekkers hiking to Everest Base Camp stay in Dingboche for two nights. A trek to this Peak is the ideal acclimatization hike, helping reduce the risk of altitude sickness while offering one of the best vantage points in the region.
At the top, trekkers are rewarded with 360-degree views of the Everest region. The dramatic cliffs, snow-covered peaks, and sheer drop-offs create a surreal experience.
Photographers love this spot for sunrise and sunset photography. The golden light on Ama Dablam and other snow peaks is an unforgettable sight.
